Ya Allāh, remove all arrogance and selfishness from my heart, and teach me to be humble, to always remember You in everything that I do.
Aameen.
Think of observing sabr as planting a flower. Firstly, you need to pray (plant the seed.) Secondly, you need to do your Istighfar (cover the seed with soil.) Next, you need to do your Dhikr (water the seed.) Then, you leave the rest to Allah and wait to see how he answers your duas (wait for the flower to grow.) Now, you wouldn’t just dig the seed out of the ground straight away because it didn’t bloom straight away? No, because you know that it takes time for a flower to grow and it’s not just going to grow overnight and you have to be patient in order to let the flower bloom perfectly. So why do you grow impatient when Allah doesn’t give you what you want when he is Al Hakim, The Wise, and he knows that giving you what you want right now will probably not benefit you and perhaps it might do later or he might give you the exact opposite of what you want? You don’t pour the entire watering can into the seed because you think it will grow faster but it will actually ruin the progress and you will end up hurting yourself in the process and wished you were patient. So why do you consume more of the Dunya when Allah does not immediately answer your duas? Be patient, think of your dua as a flower and Allah will allow it to bloom and will go beyond that and plant you an entire garden.
